This three-day institute will deepen your expertise in using the LLI systems to deliver responsive, evidence-based instruction that accelerates student growth. Together, we’ll explore how the LLI lesson format itself is designed to support the five essential pillars of reading—phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension—and how each lesson provides opportunities to strengthen students’ competencies across reading and writing.

You’ll explore how the LLI framework supports literacy growth by:

  • Weaving together direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice
  • Helping students connect new learning to prior knowledge and transfer skills across literacy tasks
  • Building students’ background knowledge, genre knowledge, and abilities to comprehend more complex texts

We’ll also:

  • Use the F&P Mini Scope and Sequence to analyze foundational skills progression and use the information to plan responsive instruction
  • Strengthen foundational skills instruction tailored to group needs
  • Practice making systematic, in-the-moment observations of reading and writing behaviors to adjust teaching, accelerate progress, and foster independence

Leave equipped with practical strategies to help every student thrive as a reader and writer. Earn a Certificate of Attendance for 15 hours.
